Performance Proof Women's Academy

Keeping young women in triathlon.

A group triathlon coaching programme for female athletes aged 18–25 — built around proper training, honest education, and a community that keeps you in the sport rather than pushing you out of it.

Why this exists

Too many young women leave sport, and it isn't because they stopped caring.

43%

of girls who once considered themselves sporty disengage from sport after primary school — around 1.3 million across the UK.

Women in Sport
24%

The equivalent figure for boys of the same age. The gap isn't about interest — it's about what happens to girls in sport.

Women in Sport
59%

of teenage girls who used to be sporty still like competitive sport. They didn't fall out of love with it.

Women in Sport

The research is clear that girls are not choosing to leave. They're leaving because of a lack of support through puberty, a fear of being judged, and almost no honest education about how a female body actually trains, fuels and recovers.

And the ones who survive all that hit a second wall. In triathlon, the years between 18 and 25 are where the pathway quietly narrows to elite or nothing — research on the junior-to-senior transition suggests only around a third of junior athletes carry on into senior sport at all. If you're not being selected, and you're not ready to stop, there's very little built for you.

And for those who do stay, the risks change rather than disappear. Under-fuelling, disrupted or absent periods, stress fractures, chronic fatigue — often quietly normalised as the price of being committed. It isn't. RED-S (relative energy deficiency in sport) is one of the most under-discussed risks in triathlon, and it disproportionately affects exactly this age group.

My PhD research is in endurance performance and nutrition, and RED-S is one of the areas I've published on. This programme exists because that knowledge shouldn't sit in a journal that the people who most need it will never read.

Why it matters to me

I'm building the group I wish I'd had.

I was a triathlete from the age of eight. I was always the one complimented for being committed — never the one winning races.

As the years went on, I had fewer and fewer girls to race against. They either went international or disappeared from the sport altogether. What was left was training with groups of boys who didn't talk to me, or older men who'd drop me on rides and not look back. It was lonely in a way that had nothing to do with how hard I was training.

Eventually I fell out of love with it. During the pandemic I stopped triathlon completely and just ran instead.

I'm finding my way back now. And I want to build the group I would have loved to be part of when I was that age — where being the committed one is enough, where you're not the only woman in the session, and where nobody has to choose between going elite and going home.

What's included

Real coaching, not a generic plan with a women's label on it.

Monthly group training sessions

A full set of sessions released each month via TrainingPeaks, automatically adjusted to your own pace and training zones.

Your zones, properly calculated

No guesswork and no generic percentages — your training zones worked out for you, so every session is at the right intensity.

Flexibility around your life

Move sessions around your week. Training should fit around study, work and everything else — not the other way round.

A WhatsApp community

A group of women training toward similar things, for accountability and support. Ground rules below — this is a deliberately safe space.

Live lectures

Proper sessions on training, nutrition and RED-S — the education most young female athletes are never given.

Academy socials & in-person sessions

A few times a year we get together to swim, bike or run in person, and to socialise — sessions you'd struggle to do alone, coffee and brunch afterwards, and no one getting dropped and left behind.

How the community works

A few ground rules

Given why this programme exists, how we talk to each other matters as much as the training itself.

Questions

Not sure if it's for you?

If you're wondering whether you're "fast enough" or "a proper triathlete" for this — you are. That question is exactly the thing this programme exists to answer.
